Anastacia Belyaeva is a fashion photographer from Moscow, Russia. Her sleek, refined, graceful, sensuality in photos finds an additional facet in this edgy, dark, experimental shoot. Cyberpunk is a story that through mixing up the cables, bringing in old pocket cameras, mobile phones, TV screens creates a merge of the different mediums available in the modern era which leave a big imprint on the life of humanity. Projection on the models draws attention to the merge of realities happening possibly at the same certain point of time simultaneously, leaving an impact.

"Cyberpunk is a depiction of the dystopian reality which has already begun to set in. A reality where advanced science and technology contrast with the ‘trying-not-to-die' urban environment".

Tell about Cyberpunk. What does it stand for and how did you choose to portray this concept in the shooting?

People nowadays are divided into those who stand up for progress and digitalized world with artificial intelligence at the head of it and those who try to keep the “history” and refuse to accept the change. Cyberpunk is a depiction of the dystopian reality which has already begun to set in. A reality where advanced science and technology contrast with the ‘trying-not-to-die' urban environment. This is a story about people who hide from the technological world while trying to monitor the outer environment and keep something original far away from those who don’t understand or appreciate it.

CHARACTERS ARE FAMILIAR WITH THIS WORLD OF CYBERPUNK, THEY UNDERSTAND THE RULES VERY WELL, ACCEPTING THE NOISE OF TECHNOLOGY, HAVING NO EMOTIONAL RESPONSE. THE SHOOT EVOLVES INTO A COHERENT NARRATIVE PORTRAYING AN INTERPRETATION OF THE CHOSEN CHARACTERS OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL SURROUNDINGS.

You decided to integrate to the shoot some technical ideas as a projection on the walls and models, media as TV and mobile phones. In one of the photos, the projection seems to be of the CCTV footage. What was important for you to convey through this medium?

Through projection, we tried to depict people who stand on top of the fast-paced, ever-evolving world and try to find like-minded people in the crowd.

When working with several models on set how do you direct them and what were some of your guidance during this shoot?

Working with several models on set was really enjoyable because everyone was glad to take part in the shoot and, moreover, Aishet and Nile have a perfect connection with each other. So we asked them to feel at ease and interact with the sets that were thoroughly done by our set designer Julia.

"THE HARDEST PART OF OUR SHOOT WAS THE LACK OF SPACE".

Tell about some fashion choices and the insanely well-done combination of styles from different genres that find themselves working in a brilliant unison with each other.

Speaking of the fashion choices, we knew that it was important to convey the mood of futuristic reality but also keep the importance of cultural wealth, so the stylist chose these garments by a futuristic brand Citizen A and mixed it with some old fashioned dresses by Ripsi Design and some deconstructed vintage clothes of Chiveskella brand, which gave us a mixture of vintage heritage and futurism.

What was the hardest part about shooting in the flat in terms of set design and light?

The hardest part of our shoot was the lack of space, as we had to squeeze our big team into this small old flat in the center of Moscow but we managed to work around it.
