Let’s Stay Home and Do Nothing All Day
Andrea Cenetiempo is a fashion photographer based in Milan. Andrea presents the story Let’s Stay Home and Do Nothing All Day, a collaborative work with stylists Alessandro Ferrari and Giusj Pagnotta Albanese, and muah Milena Frau. The editorial generates a thrust of color, creating a contrast between the nudes of the makeup and the stronger palette presented in styling and decor. A feeling of coziness and warmth is created in the ease of being home, relaxed postures, and leisure.
While outside the emotion is changed to a more vibrant one of pleasure and curiosity embracing the summer moments when the rain ceases to fall. Sharing activities with a close person is the focus of the story that puts an emphasis on the perfect day combined of different emotions when what matters is eventually not being alone.
"THE MAIN INSPIRATION FOR THIS SHOOTING WAS TO SHOWCASE THE ENNUI OF STAYING AT HOME AND DO NOTHING"
What is a perfect stay home day for you?
The main inspiration for this shooting was to showcase the ennui of staying at home and do nothing during cloudy and rainy days of this period in Milan. The perfect day to stay in would probably be with someone you love and care about and do nothing, be bored together, and then, when the sun comes out, go for a walk and enjoy some time outside or in the garden.
Tell about the color decisions of the combination of styling and decor with deep light blues and dirty browns.
We kind of had to play with what the location had to offer, and while styling was focused on neutral colors and symmetric lines, the blue couch and the plants in the garden gave the shooting the pop of color it needed.
There is a contrast in mood when scenes from inside and outside the house are compared. What were some of the direction given to the models on set?
While, shooting inside the models were told to act a little bit more bored, in the outside part we wanted them to show more of their personality and be playful with each other.
What are the challenges in creating one visual language when shooting indoors and outdoors in terms of light and backgrounds?
We used flash to balance the lighting differences between the outside and the inside, and we chose a neutral background to make sure the images were consistent.
"THE MOMENT I LIKE THE MOST ABOUT THE SHOOTINGS IS WHEN EVERYBODY FINALLY LOOSENS UP A LITTLE".
Share a story form the collaborative work during the preparation for the shooting day.
The moment I like the most about the shootings is when everybody finally loosens up a little and is comfortable so you can finally enjoy your time together and have fun and laugh while working, I also think that’s essential for a good shooting.
