investigacion, sistema, vacio, hoy

Submission by Zoë Lena Rebecchi Words by Nastasia Khmelnitski

investigacion, sistema, vacio, hoy is a new editorial shot by the creative duo Dos Personas which consists of Zoë Lena Rebecchi and Catalina Gastal Vetrano. The title that is translated as ‘investigation, system, emptiness, today’ reflects on the methodology of approaching the subject and the way of shooting taken by the duo. Learning the environment and observing the creative work becomes the central theme that accompanies the shoot. Processes that occur in the studio allow us to take a closer look at the characters created and the way they operate in space.

We speak with the team about the idea and the technique applied to shooting the editorial. The team tells about developing stylistic decisions that became repetitive throughout their work. “The simple lines and the stripped and minimalist imprint is something that characterizes us as creative directors,” they explain. Shooting on black and white and color film is connected by choice of clothing in two colors. The attitude and the look and feel created by the work with models empower the visual aesthetics with a deeper layer of emotion or lack of such.

Hi guys, let’s speak about the idea for Investigacion, sistema, vacio, hoy. What drove you to work on this editorial?

The team: dos personas is a space for search and experimentation. Our work has as its axis the observation of the environment — the system — and the constant search for beauty in simplicity.

‘This is why 'investigación, sistema, vacío, hoy' portrays from an honest and stripped-down way people who make up the editorial in order to observe and analyze them.’

The main focus of this work is portraits and the observance of a person from different perspectives. What was important to discuss with models for the specific look and mood you were aiming to create?

The team: This is why 'investigación, sistema, vacío, hoy' portrays from an honest and stripped-down way people who make up the editorial in order to observe and analyze them. That’s also the reason why we decided to shoot at the studio.

‘The simple lines and the stripped and minimalist imprint is something that characterizes us as creative directors, as the neutral colors we always use.’

Minimalism in color and garments used in each frame is one of the stylistic decisions that help to build the story. Walk us through the choice of color, materials, and outfits eventually chosen.

The team: The styling was intended to show the characters. The presence of fur was one of the main factors in choosing the garments. The simple lines and the stripped and minimalist imprint is something that characterizes us as creative directors, as the neutral colors we always use.

Which moment from this project is most precious to you?

The team: The shooting was very chill from the beginning until the end. We made a really good team, and I think we all felt good energy.
